Description

One Acre Fund is a social enterprise that supplies smallholder farmers in East Africa with asset-based financing and agriculture training services to reduce hunger and poverty.

Funding Procedure

If you are a farmer and want to apply for financing with One Acre Fund, you can follow these steps: Select the category that best fits your inquiry, such as "Financing and Insurance." Fill out the form with your name, email, and message. Submit the form and wait for a response from the One Acre Fund team. Alternatively, you can enroll in One Acre Fund's program between July and October. During this time, One Acre Fund purchases inputs like seeds and fertilizers when prices are at their lowest, allowing them to pass on savings to the farmers they serve. In February, One Acre Fund delivers the seeds, fertilizers, and other supplies to farmers to kick off the growing season. Throughout the growing season, One Acre Fund provides farmers with training and support and allows them to make repayments for the supplies as frequently or infrequently as they want. One Acre Fund offers smallholder farmers an asset-based loan that includes the distribution of seeds and fertilizer, financing for farm inputs, training on agriculture techniques, and market facilitation to maximize profits. Each service bundle is around US$80 in value and includes crop insurance to mitigate the risks of drought and disease. One Acre Fund also provides input insurance to protect farmers from financial disaster if extreme weather damages their harvests.

Target Impact

By 2030, we aim to serve 10 million farmers — fully 10 percent of the families in the world living on $1 a day.
