One of the Founding Partners of Kampala Associated Advocates, Founding Chairman of the Uganda Chamber of Mines & Petroleum an organisation that seeks to promote and develop Uganda’s mining and petroleum operations and services.

Hon. Elly Karuhanga is the Founder President and Chairman, Governing Council, Uganda Centre for Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution (CADER) formed in 1998. He was appointed its Chairman and has been reappointed every three years to date.

Hon. Elly Advocate of the Supreme Court of Uganda. 1974- To date. He served as a Member of Parliament for Nyabushozi County for 13 years, from 1988-2001 and also served as an elected delegate on the Constitutional Assembly that promulgated the 1995 Uganda Constitution and also served as Chairman of the Presidential and Foreign Affairs Committee.

Hon. Elly is also a former President and Director of Hardman Petroleum Resources which discovered Oil in Uganda 2006.

President and Director of Tullow Uganda Operations Pty Ltd and was the Senior Adviser, Africa, for Tullow Oil.

He is the Chairman of Uganda Chamber of Mines & Petroleum, an organisation that seeks to promote and develop Uganda’s mining and petroleum operations and services since 2008 to date. The Chamber has a membership of 200 leading companies in the business and Industry sectors.

Hon. Elly has worked in a diplomatic capacity as Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Seychelles to Uganda since 2005.

He also served and still serves on the boards of many companies, such as:

  • British American Tobacco-2013 to date. (Chairman)
  • Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) December 2019 to date. (Chairman)
  • SAB Millers Uganda (Nile Breweries) 2013 to Febuary 2017, Director 2006 to Febuary 2017. (Chairman).
  • Chairman of DFCU Limited- 2014 to date, Director DFCU Bank Limited May 2005-2014.
  • Chairman AON Uganda now Minet Uganda, July 2014 to date.
  • Director Private Sector Foundation Uganda. December 2016- To date.
  • Chairman National Social Security Fund, 1989-1993.
  • Chairman Rwenzori Mineral water. 2013-2017
  • Director and Board member of Mweya Safari Lodge, Paraa Safari Lodge, Silverback lodge and Chobe Safari Lodge under Marasa Holdiongs part of the Mahdvani Group of Companies.

Hon. Elly Karuhanga is regularly invited to address International Business Conferences, Oil & Gas and Mining conferences all over the world.
