USAID/Uganda’s bilateral activity through which USAID seeks to improve the livelihoods of 100,000 marginalized people by providing private sector firms with transaction advisory and deal facilitation services that unlock commercial financing. National with focus on FTF Zone of Influence (ZOI) and Karamoja . Deals outside the FTF ZOI must have a direct influence and impact in the ZOI. Objectives: 1. Increase commercial financing in agriculture and related sectors 2. Improve policies, laws and regulations regarding commercial investors 3.Increased productive use of energy in the agriculture and related sectors.

Funding Procedure

Selection Criteria: Leverage I:7 Registered Private sector firm Focus on commercial capital raise Reach out to the SIA/Chemonics team directly (walk-in), through the mission or direct referrals by investors (financial institutions), other MSSP activities like IAM, Other donors, ABI, Advisors networks- Board, crossboundary and OCG generate regional and local investment opportunity leads, incubators, accelerators, and business associations, government agencies (UIA) LEDICS.

Commercial Capital: Large > $5 Million Medium $1-5 Million Small > $1 million *** The minimum ticket size is not mentioned

Target Impact

Increase domestic and international investment into the agriculture, energy, and health sectors by at least $140 million. Creates jobs and livelihood opportunities for women, youth, and marginalized people. Strengthen the ecosystem for business advisory services in Uganda Reach 100,000 vulnerable/underrepresented people.

Services: Provides business/transaction advisory services and matchmaking to make businesses investment ready and access commercial capital (debt or equity). SIA also provides small catalytic grants to make the business ready to attract and raise commercial capital. The grant component under SIA is less than 3% of the TEC).
